4.27.14:Dwarfs/Dwarves

3:48 PM Unknown
I'm not sure what it is; dwarfs or dwarves? Either way, I love my dwarf tomatoes.
We all know the tiny plants that give loads of cherry tomatoes like Tiny Tim. But they're not the only dwarfs anymore. It's possible to grow plants that are about 90cm/3ft high and give a nice yield of good tasting, beautiful beefsteaks.

Bushy Chabarovsky, an early determinate that gives pink, slightly "fuzzy", small round tomatoes.

The dwarfs I'm growing are:
Arctic Rose (midseason, dwf ind, pink medium round tomatoes)
Bonté Tigret (midseason, dwf det, red striped small oval tomatoes)
Bushy Chabarovsky (early, dwf det, pink small round tomatoes)
Coastal Pride Orange (midseason, dwf ind, orange medium round/oval tomatoes)
New Big Dwarf (midseason, dwf ind, pink medium beefsteak tomatoes)
Orange Pixie (early, dwf det, orange small round/oval tomatoes)
Rainbow (dwf ind, bicolor beefsteak tomatoes)
Rosella Purple (midseason, dwf ind, purple medium beefsteak tomatoes)
Shadow Boxing (early, dwf ind, red striped small pointed tomatoes)
Tasmanian Chocolate (midseason, dwf ind, brown medium beefsteak tomatoes)
Tiny Tim (early, dwf det, red cherry tomatoes)
Venus (micro dwf, orange cherry tomatoes)
Wild Fred (midseason, dwf ind, black/purple medium beefsteak tomatoes)
Yukon Quest (early, dwf ind, pink medium beefsteak tomatoes)

4.18.14:Crowded Greenhouse

11:29 PM Unknown
Because we're still busy building the new, big greenhouse, I have to stall my tomato plants in the small greenhouse. You can say it's a bit crowded in there.
I really have to keep the door open at daytime and the window day and night, because there's a higher risk of diseases in such a crowded place. So far, it's going well, but some tomatoes are dying to get some extra room to stretch their legs.

4.15.14:Some Pics From Last Year

9:59 PM Unknown
Last year I grew only a few varieties (this is my first year of growing big big big), but I took some nice pictures anyway:

Lollipops and Tommy Toe Yellows in the greenhouse
Lollipop, very fresh taste
Mortgage Lifter, my favourite last year. Healthy plants, beautiful fruits.
Mortgage Lifters
Red Pearl. Nothing special, but healthy, strong plants and a good yield.

Cornue des Andes. Very tasty (when red, duh).
Terenzo F1, a dwarf hybrid with nice tasting red cherries.
Pepper Cayenne Long Thick Red. Good peppers, great for sambal.
A good old bell pepper.
A slice of meaty Mortgage Lifter.
Pasta sauce in the make. Only containing home grown ingredients.

4.14.14:First Flowers

4:24 PM Unknown
Yeah, the first tiny little flowers are forming on Stupice, Bloody Butcher and Blue Pitts.
We will have a cold night tonight, so I think I'm already going to close the door of my greenhouse to keep as much warmth inside as possible.

4.14.14:Welcome!

4:16 PM Unknown
This will be my notebook during this years growing season. I will try to show as much pictures as possible and share as much different tomato varieties as I can.
I'm also growing peppers, eggplants, peas, carrots, onions, many other things this year, so it will not only be about tomatoes. If you have a question or if you're looking for tomato seeds, feel free to contact me using the contact for on the bottom of this page. Please keep in mind that I'm Dutch, so my English will have it's flaws.
